Procesor AMD RYZEN 7 1800X The Long-Awaited Moment For The PC Enthusiast

At the beginning of 2017 when the long-awaited for PC enthusiasts, especially fans of AMD processors. Yes, this is the moment in which they release the high performance AMD next-gen! Of course, the processor in question is none other than AMD Ryzen.

AMD's track record going back many years, AMD released the AMD FX-series processors with architecture 'Bulldozer' in 2011. Their current flagship processor (FX-8150), which is known as the processor that has the highest number of cores on today's desktop-class with the 8 cores.
Unfortunately, the design of AMD has several characteristics that make it not very popular, such as:
  • Number of cores much, but lower performance per core (aka the performance of single-threaded)
  • Working temperature high enough
  • large power consumption
  • Performance per clock (IPC a.k.a, Instructions per hour) relative under other processors in the era.

FX-8150 which at that time had to compete with the Core i7-2600K 'Sandy Bridge', although it can pursue in some applications / benchmarks, got a 'stigma' bad PC enthusiasts who see that the 8-core processor made by AMD only has a slight performance Intel solution under which 'only' has 4 cores, but can process 8-thread with SMT technology (Simultaneous multi-threading aka HyperThreading).
At the time a lot of applications and games that underutilization of the number of cores that much, AMD FX design flaws more visible. Simply put, a 'core' processors must have a set of integer units, and a set of floating-point unit. Bulldozer has a different design, in which they have a 'CMT module' which contains two integer units ( 'core'), and a floating-point unit is divided into modules CMT. This makes AMD uses four modules to get the configuration 8 'core'. Unfortunately, with this design, FX has the integer performance was quite good when all the 'core' is loaded, but the floating point performance is relatively low.

Since 2012-2013, AMD did not renew the line of AM3 + FX processors and platforms with the new architecture. In the following year, they had indeed issued a revised 2 pieces of architecture, namely 'rollers' and 'Excavator'. Unfortunately both these architectures are not released for high-performance PC, but designed to be an APU (Accelerated Processing Unit), which is a CPU with integrated GPU strong. Milled 4 CPU cores used for AMD APU 'Kaveri' and Athlon X4 4 core CPU desktop while Excavator used for Carrizo APU and Bristol Ridge which was released just for notebooks.
AMD FX, the only high performance solutions from AMD, offered at a price that is more and more expensive each year, and platforms appeal to users who target performance multi-core processors are good at affordable prices (for based game API DX12 that utilize multi -core for example). However, predictably, finally, prefer Intel processor solutions for power efficiency and better performance.

New in 2017, several years after AMD FX, AMD finally has an answer to deal with Intel in the segment of high-performance CPU, with an architecture called 'Zen'. Its own processor called AMD Ryzen.
